LOVE… in this club?

13 June, 2008

No, this song will not die. It has somehow managed to ensnare me everytime I hear it. The lyrics both do and dont’ agree with me – for the same reasons. Unashamedly, I will break out into dance if I hear this song. It doesn’t even matter where I am, I will start dancing. It might be inappropriate outside of an actual club, it might just be simple swaying movements.

Embarassing? Yes. Do I really care? Not really. Should the song be banned to save the public from having to see me dance? Yes, if the public had to actually look at me – it’s called turning away – you don’t have to, and really have no right to judge me.

Which brings me to my actual topic: promiscuity. It is defined as the state of being promiscuous. Promiscuous is defined as indiscriminate mingling or association. It also adds “esp. having sexual relations with a number of partners on a casual basis” – but that’s an add on. It is also defined as being indiscriminate, or being “casual; irregular; haphazard” – all of which so far describe my behaviour, including those that most people don’t think of as being promiscuous.
So my issue is: is it a positive or negative attribute? Yea, I’m sure you’ve heard (of) the song Promiscuous Girl by Furtado, but we’ll ignore that song. Yea, that is a common connotation of the word, but if you need a refresher, go back a paragraph and read. Now I also said the definition desribes my behaviour – it does. I do odd, more or less crazy, and rather “out there” things at random times – in the hall, in my car, at my desk; anywhere basically. I’ve received the comment of being silly or adorable for it more than once. But I also on occasion go by common connotation, partially. Hey, it’s called dirty dancing – get a libido (or a more liberal stance) or a massage for your stiff neck. Anything else in between also works.

Anyway, my point is this: I can be the manwhore, the slut on dance floor, or whatever you want to call me, but that’s okay – I’m out there having fun, keeping myself and my mind open. And who knows, maybe love really is waiting in some club for me – maybe you too.

    lol at libido.

being promiscuous doesn’t always have to be sexual, does it? i think everyone is really promiscuous if haphazard and irregular is the definition… since no one is really regular, right? that’s just a state of mind..

usher’s too hot. just thought i’d throw that in there.
